Natural Habitat

Mexipedium xerophyticum Mexipedium xerophyticum has so far only been found in a single location in the Chimalapas region on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca. The habitat is a small karst outcrop in the gorge of the Rio del Corte, which is less than two hectares in size. The plants grow there at around 320 metres above sea level on vertical cliffs facing north and east.
